Citizenship Development Programme 2015
Innova Primary School commemorated Total Defence Day on Friday, 13 February 2015. It was a day when our pupils were reminded that each Singaporean plays a part to defend our country. The theme for this year is “The Strength Of Our Nation” It affirms that the security and stability of our nation was built upon everyone's efforts.
To start the event, our Principal, Miss Winders, read us the speech by the Minister of Defence, following an exciting performance by the Singapore Civil Defence Force. Thereafter, our pupils participated in a fun quiz and won wonderful prizes. In order to experience what our pioneers had experienced during the World War II, our pupils ate sweet potato porridge, steamed tapioca and other simple foods during recess. Apart from their social studies lessons, our pupils learnt more about the five pillars of Total Defence (military, civil, economic, social and psychological defence) from the display booths set up by the Singapore Armed Force, Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Also, our pupils were thrilled and captivated by the Singapore Civil Defence Force’s demonstrations of extinguishing fire with water spray and other equipment.

Our school commemorated International Friendship Day (IFD) and Asean Day on Friday, 10 April 2015. IFD was an important event which allowed our pupils to learn to embrace others from diverse backgrounds and to cultivate friendships and collaboration with our international friends.
This year, we integrated IFD and Asean Day with Singapore’s upcoming memorable event, the 28th SEA Games 2015. We started the day with our Principal, Miss Winders, delivering the IFD key learning speech. Following on, we had an interesting and engaging assembly skit titled ‘Upholding the Lega-SEA’. It armed our pupils with pertinent knowledge and fun facts about the SEA Games.
To end off the session, our pupils personalised a welcome card for our SEA Games regional athletes and officials as a warm welcoming gesture! These activities carried out during the IFD reinforced the concept of embrace and understanding among friends and neighbours, far and near. It also encouraged our pupils to appreciate and maintain our current social cohesion that is vital to the peace and progress in our multi-cultural nation.

On 23 July 2015, Innovians celebrated Hari raya together with Racial Harmony Day. This year's theme for Racial Harmony is "Harmony in Our Hands". Various items were put up to celebrate this joyous occasion. The Kompang boys ushered the School Leaders to grace the occasion.
A brief presentation allows students to learn and understand more about Hari Raya and Racial Harmony Day. Ms Winders, Mrs Ang and Mr Wong graced the opening ceremony of the Innova Wall of Unique Cultural Diversity.
The Malay dancers danced gracefully for the occasion and not forgetting the performance put up by our very own teachers. A special performance was also put up by the Nanhai Guicheng Foreign Language School students. Other performances include Harmonica, Bollywood Fusion Mix and Choir.
It was an enriching and enjoyable celebration.

The Primary 5 students went for the NE Show on the 25th July 2015 and it was a breath-taking experience for them because the show was wonderfully filled with non-stop visuals and the storyline made the show even more interesting.
Starting from the pioneers and their contributions, the show gradually introduced the beautiful scenes from the 70s and 80s and students were amazed at the spectacular colors on display. Campaigns such as the Courtesy Campaign, Save water Campaign and Keep Singapore Clean Campaign also made their appearances to the young audience to show them sweat and tears of our pioneer generation and how they worked effortlessly to ensure Singapore’s progress.
With all the colours and fireworks on display, it was truly a memorable experience for the Primary 5 students.

Innova National Day Parade 2015 (INDP 2015) started off with the yearly affair of marching in, where students representatives from various CCAs proudly held onto our national flag and with the Parade Commander’s orders, marched into the Parade Square with gusto and pride.
The celebrations continued in the school hall with the National Day Message followed by Innova’s Got Talent competition. Creative and Innovative performances liven up the mood of the school as our winner, S5 WAT, was selected by guest judges, Ms. Winders, Mr. Wong and Mr. Azhar.
The school then sang popular national day songs and teachers displayed their talent with their own rendition of 2015’s NDP Song, Our Singapore.
